WHO ARE WE
The Muslim Women's Network(E.L) is a faith based as well as a community based organization which was established on the 12/05/ 2007 by a group of ladies concerned about the welfare of society and who are passionate about addressing the moral degeneration of society. Since it's inception the Muslim Women's Network(E.L.) has made significant strides towards social uplifting within our community. Although initiated by the Muslim community, our organization serves the community at large.
East London, like other cities is experiencing poverty, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence , the deterioration of parent-teacher-child relationships, unemployment and xenophobia. These are just a few we can mention. As a non-profit organization we hereby appeal for funding.
AIMS
1. The capacitatation of women in Income Generating Projects and the establishment of women's co-operatives to reduce poverty levels.
2. The Education of women, with special emphasis on Convert Muslim women, with regard to Islamic Teachings/ Da'wah, the Quraan & Sunnah.
3. To provide a safe-haven or community center as a refuge for people affected by HIV/AIDS, gender based violence or drug abuse etc.
4. To promote socio-economic development opportunities targeting the Youth and establish programs to address drug addiction, etc
5. To foster linkages with like-minded organizations and other Religious structures who address the development of and the transfer of skills to the Youth.
6. To provide support to the Aged by way of various programs which focus on their needs and lessons learnt from them.
7. To support widows and refugees.
8. To create a platform through which community needs are addessed.
WHO BENEFITS FROM THE NETWORK
The poverty -stricken areas namely: Buffalo Flats, certain Section of Braelyn, Pefferville , Parkridge and Town.
The community with regards to xenophobia, Islamic/Da'wah, youth programs and social gatherings.
The individual as well as the community.
CONCLUSION
The Muslim Women's Network endeavors to develop, promote and capacitate women, youth, aged and AIDS affected individuals by providing a support system based on Islamic principles.
